RGIII, Alfred Morris Among 6 Washington Redskins Named to All-NFC East Team

With the 2012 NFL season complete for most of the league and the entire NFC East, postseason awards and recognition have started to roll in from various websites and media outlets. ?Pro Football Focus announced their selections January 10 for their 2012 All-NFC East team, which included six Redskins?five on offense and one player from the defense.

The 'Skins rookie combination of quarterback Robert Griffin III and running back Alfred Morris topped the list on offense. ?Rounding out the backfield was the selection at the fullback position of?Darrel Young, who was noted for his blocking skills as he totaled a mere 14 carries in 2012, creating an all-Redskins backfield.

The Redskins O-line was certain to gain recognition as they provided the blocking necessary for the backfield to have the success and record-breaking performances the team experienced throughout the season. ?

Six-year veteran center Will Montgomery and offensive captain and tackle Trent Williams came as no real surprise to any 'Skins fan or follower as both players made the?list.

The only defensive Redskins player to make the list was cornerback Josh Wilson, who certainly played a role in the secondary as he recorded two interceptions, forced three fumbles, a sack and 74 tackles.

Wide receiver Pierre Garcon, who missed six regular season games due to injury, was not selected but mentioned for his limited success in the 10 games played.

Redskins' 15-year veteran inside linebacker London Fletcher wasn't selected either despite leading the team in tackles and interceptions. ?The site mentioned Fletcher but minimized his performance and actually cited "injuries and age."

?

An additional omission from the list seemed to be 'Skins kicker Kai Forbath as Dallas Cowboys kicker Dan Bailey was selected. ?To Bailey's credit he finished the regular season without missing an extra point and converted 29-of-31 field goals.?

Postseason awards will continue throughout the month and most of the NFL awards will be announced the first week of February.
